Utah's public school systems offer quality primary and secondary education to nearly one half million students. Over 25,000 licensed district educators provide a quality education experience for students in Utah's 804 schools. Public education expenditure per pupil in 2001-2002 was $4,706.
Utah has 92 private and parochial schools (Excel format) in 19 of the 40 school districts. Over 13,950 students (Excel format) attended these schools in 2002.
Many programs are offered in Utah schools. Among the programs are: kindergarten, gifted and talented children's program, special education, vocational education, safe and drug free schools, adult education, statewide distance learning/EDNET, centennial scholarships for early graduation, applied technology, custom fit training, agricultural, business, marketing, and economic education, school-to-careers, and work-based learning.
