Utah's Olympic Legacy | Recreation | Arts & Culture
On February 8-24, 2002, Salt Lake City played host to the XIX Olympic Winter Games. Along with more than 2,000 athletes from 85 nations, nearly 3.5 billion people from around the world witnessed the magic of the Games through television.
Utah was chosen to host the Games with good reason -- the greatest snow on earth and fantastic venues. Eleven venues were selecterd to house the extraordinary shows of athletic performance, including a newly built, state-of-the-art skating rink and the world's fastest luge track. And because all venues are open to the public, you can experience the thrill of the games firsthand.
