Utilities Overview | Electric Power | Telecommunications | Natural Gas | Public Water
Industrial electric rates in Salt Lake City compare favorably with those in other major Western cities. Utah's electric power rates have declined 18% since 1988.
Utah was able to escape the electricity price spikes that were common on the West Coast in 2001. Power demand in the urban regions of Utah is rising at about 4% per year, while industrial demand for electricity is down by about the same rate.
Utah Power (a division of Scottish Power) is the largest electric utility in the state. Forty-two of the state's municipalities provide electric power to their residents and also contribute power to six rural electric cooperatives. Rate information may be obtained by contacting the individual utility companies listed to the right.
